The Indian method of dressing has always been a symbol of splendor and magnificence all over the world. One of the most significant occasions in the life of an Indian girl is her wedding. Indian wedding sarees are made attractive with trendy colors (mainly red), heavy designs, embroideries and fabrics which exactly match up to the bride’s personality.
Saree (also spelt as Sari), the traditional garment worn by women throughout India, has been preferred for the brides in India, since ages. As a matter of fact, initially, in several regions of India, sari was the only alternative considered by the Indian brides. Though the fashion has changed with the passage of time and options that have come up like shararas, lehengas, etc. Yet there are many brides who prefer to be dressed in a saree on the day of their wedding. The charm and grace that a saree can bestow upon a woman, remains unparalleled by any other piece of clothing and this is one of the many reasons why Indian brides even today still wish to opt for the attire on their special day.
In accordance to styles, Indian wedding sarees can be categorized as per regions where they are very popular. There are different types of sarees and different patterns that are worn in eastern India, western India, northern India and southern India. In this country, one of the most preferred choices for a bridal saree is the one made of silk. In fact, even traditionally, people have opted for silk as the material for bridal wear. However, fashion is changing with time. Now-a-days, we find that Indian wedding sarees are also made from fabrics like crepe, georgette, new-tissue, shamoi-satin and disheen, etc. Generally, the selection of fabric depends upon the most recent trend and upon the budget and on the personal preference of the bride. However, one thing that is for sure is that the Indian wedding sarees are adorned with stone work, intense embroidery or other add-ons to make them look stand apart from the rest, and make the bride look prettiest on her special day.
Color plays a significant part in Indian marriages. Red colored saree has been the traditional choice for Indian brides, since times immemorial. The color is considered very lucky and is deemed to be connected specifically with marriage because it symbolizes love and affection. However, nowadays, many brides also opt for other colors too in their sarees. They range from yellow, magenta, orange, pink maroon, golden, onion-color, to even brown.
Even double toned saris, in combination of pink and blue, yellow and green, green and brown, or red and yellow are also in great demand for contemporary brides of this generation.
